Bringing in the new year with something active

Yesterday up until late in the evening, Brad and I were scurrying around town collecting items we needed for today.

K2 had their first social today at Sugar House Park sledding!

Sledding? Can you sled with a 1 year old?!

Yes....but it is very hard. There are hills to climb carrying our sorry selves in addition to Allie AND a sled!

But we pulled it off!

Here's how it went down...

We woke up bright and early this morning (or should I say Allie woke us up bright and early this morning.) We played a bit and I just love her little monkey feets!!

Once we were all fed and watered, we brought out the cutest snow suit EVER!! I couldn't wait to stuff Allie inside it!!
I kinda want one myself...
I wasn't sure we were going to be able to fit her into her car seat...but we managed!

Then we hit Sugar House Park and it was awesome!
We weren't sure how Allie was going to take it, but judging by that smile, I think she liked it!!
This series of photos down the hill just makes me SMILE to see them both so happy!!!

She didn't quite understand the concept of getting to the bottom, getting off and walking back up the hill!! She would start whining and get cranky when she got to the bottom of the hill! We would try to stand her up so that we could get up and start the trek back up the hill...and she would just sit down....she wanted to sit down in the sled!

But geez - aren't they both ADORABLE!!??!!
Then it was my turn....
Yup - it was as fun as it looks!
We let Allie play in the snow before we left...this picture cracked me up because she almost blends in with the snow! And I love all the little dots of people in the background sledding!

I took this photo with my iPhone and it makes me smile to see all the people out having fun together!! And there were NO accidents while we were there!!

She was quite intrigued withe the snow...
...she wanted to touch it...and has recently learned the word "cold" as it was reinforced during this little playtime activity!
Then we said, "Eat it!" and she did...

Then we found another hill that wasn't quite so crowded and we had a little fun of our own. It was short lived as we were huffing and puffing afterward. That was a BIG hill to climb!!
Allie was patient with us as we slid down the hill!

I thought this photo was amazing with the Wasatch Mountains in the background.
And then once we got into the car, she passed out!! It was a great day! K2 provided the hot chocolate and coffee, God provided the sun and snow, and we had a BLAST!!

Here's to a Happy New Year to EVERYONE!! :-)
