Spring Snow & Discovery Museum

The weather forecasters in Salt Lake crack me up - I used to get angry...but now I just find it humorous...

One evening, the news will say - expect heavy snow showers with accumulation in the valley...I wake up, peep out the window and see nothing but green grass. The next evening - nothing...and I wake up with tons of snow!

That's what happened this morning, I woke up expecting a cold but sunny spring day - ready to enjoy the daffodils that have bloomed in our yard and the tulips down the road at the neighbors...but then I peep out the back door and see old man winter...and a lot of him! About 6 inches. I've never seen snow at the end of April...not even in MA. It was still pretty and I do love it...I'm just ready to put it up with my winter sweaters and welcome spring!

I decided to bundle Allie up and play in it as it may (or may not) be our last time. She is always intrigued with the snow and refuses to put mittens on. She's rather get frostbite and watch the snow melt in her hands.

After a little coaxing (or forcing) I managed to get the mittens on her....all she wanted to do is "Eat the snow..."
I kept scooting her into the new snow for fear that she would scrape it off the driveway or hit grass....so inward to the yard we moved...
And kept moving....as she kept eating...I got a little worried because Salt Lake has pretty bad smog (or inversion as these folks like to call it) and I just don't know what the daily toxin allowances are for an 18 month old...I tried to pull her on the sled, but the scared-y cat kept rolling off into the snow because she was scared...Weirdo...
We decided to get out and about so we headed to the Children's Discovery Museum at the Gateway. I was expecting it to be crowded...just not THIS crowded. I was surprised with the number of adults who were actually more of a problem that the kids...but needless to say - Allie had a good time.

She wasn't a fan of the horsey, as you can tell. Brad isn't but a step away, but you'd think we were torturing her!!

Allie is quite reserved when there are gobs of other children around. She'll squintch up her shoulders when kids are rushing by her and looks for something to hold on to - afraid they'll push her over. She does better in quiet spots with a limited number of people. She loved playing with these magnets on the second floor. She could have stayed there for hours.

We played with dollhouses, puzzles - even got to see and sit in a real helicopter...and after a few hours - I was done, exhausted!

We'll have to take Allie back....one day.....who knows when that will be!!!
