Today I had a wild hair up my rear end and thought I'd make some baby back ribs and homemade sweet potato casserole to celebrate the fourth. As I was putting on the bbq sauce before sliding the ribs onto the grill - I was surprised to hear Allie come into the kitchen, take a look at me and say, "My paint!" (She tends to use my instead of I - Instead of "I paint" it's "My paint" instead of "I eat it" it's "My eat it")
So I pulled up a chair, gave her the basting brush and let her go to town - she had a blast. I have a feeling I'm going to have a good helper in the kitchen cooking meals soon!

We were planning on heading out to a firework show. When we were back in Tennessee - Brad and I bought quite a few fireworks in hopes of blowing some stuff up! After we lit a few, we realized that Allie was not fond of the fireworks and we ended up leaving them for my family to shoot off when we were not there. To help prepare Allie for the large fireworks display given by the city - we showed her videos of fireworks on You Tube - specifically my favorite firework show - Boomsday in Knoxville, TN! I was trying to get her to see that they were pretty and fun - I said, "Pretty fireworks, huh?" She looked at me, wrinkled her forehead and said, "Crazy fireworks."
We ended up driving around 7:00 to scope out some areas that overlook the valley and found a great spot at the Alta View Hospital...however, looking at Allie, then the clock...we knew were weren't going to make it until 10:00, so we headed back home. The little booger went out by 8:30.
We were luckily able to see the fireworks at Murray Park from our back porch!
As we were sitting downstairs watching the Boston Fireworks on our big screen TV - I turned to Brad and said, "This is what old people do - watch the firework show on TV."
He said, "No - this is what people with a two year old do."
