This has been the first "real" Christmas we've had with thekids - meaning, Allie is now at an age where she somewhat comprehends what it is, that there are gifts and it is a special day. This was the first year that I really got into decorating and we put up a tree again. We didn't last year because we were in a tiny apartment...during our transition here in SLC.
So I went all out and bought us some Pottery Barn personally embroidered stockings. And we stuffed them! I never had a stocking growing up so I was unsure what to put in it...Bana helped out a ton!
I wanted to start traditions for Christmas. I wasn't sure what those traditions would be, but when I went to get out the waffle mix this morning - I realized that we were out! So I had to make some from scratch...and this opened up a perfect start to a Christmas tradition. Homemade waffles with a touch of cinnamon sprinkled with "snow" or powdered sugar...and it was quite a hit!
After breakfast, we went right into the Christmas presents....but not without taking one family photo!! This picture should be captioned, "Allie!!! Hold her head up...no her head...put your hand behind her head...hold her head up!"
This was the only picture I managed to grab of the carnage because I wanted to be a part of it...not just on the outside looking in...

Allie was quite the fan of Aunt Jessica's necklaces that she sent!!
I did learn a valuable lesson - Just because they play with something at the store...does not necessarily mean that they will play with them at home! That is a good lesson for first time mom's with toddlers...(i.e. ME!)It was a great day. I can't wait for the many more Christmas's to come!!
