Day 263 - We survived

Well - it was bound to happen...I had to face reality and take Allie to daycare. I thought by taking her last Friday for a meet and greet, it would make today a little easier, but it didn't. After all the preparing of stuff last night...I thought I was mentally prepared. I got a wake up call this morning! Although Brad and I both took a vacation day today, we wanted to at least do a dry run of how the mornings would go from now on, so we woke up at normal time. I got Allie up and fed then plopped her in the pack n play in our bedroom while I got ready. Before I knew it, we were out the door.

I was fine when we got to the daycare - even when we went into the nursery and sat her down in the floor. A few of the babies immediately came over to greet Allie and even gave her a toy to welcome her!

These little ones were obviously NOT as familiar with the camera as Allie - they didn't know what to think of me and that black box I was clicking!

Before I knew it - it was time for me to "cut the cord" and leave. Brad was already in the car waiting for me... I turned and left the nursery...BUT - it just so happens there's a window at the front office to the nursery that Allie is in. I had to watch for a little bit before I left! Without me even knowing it, she had been placed on the playmat with a bib strapped to her neck already!

Geez - doesn't she look so lonely...but so cute?

This kid must have felt my sadness about Allie being lonely - she came back over to play with Allie.

I almost cried on the way home. I had this crazy weird anxiety in the pit of my stomach, but I held back the tears! Brad and I went back home and I cleaned like a maniac! I am bound and determined to keep my house as clean as it was while my mom lived with us - I have already re-organized the kitchen, Allie's room, the laundry room and all the cabinets in the house! I had to keep myself busy so that I wouldn't just count the minutes...turned out - I got everything done by 10:30 and still ended up counting the minutes. I forgot how quickly I could get things done when I don't have a baby around to distract me!

By noon, (okay - maybe 11:45 - I couldn't help it) we headed back to the daycare to "save her!" I was all prepared to see Allie crying and fussing and alone...but was pleasantly surprised when I saw this!

Allie was just chillin' in her crib with all the other babies! I think she probably would have fallen asleep soon if we had not stopped by to pick her up!

Each day, the daycare gives us a report so that we know what time she ate, napped and how many diapers she went through - even telling us if the diapers were #1 or #2! This was a big plus when we were interviewing daycares!

We've given them the following schedule:

9:00 am - Breakfast
12:00 pm - Lunch
3:00 pm - Afternoon snack

Obviously a bottle and nap thrown in between the meals.

Her first report read like this:

9:00 am - Cereal mixed with formula - refused
9:25 am - Retry cereal - refused
10:05 - Retry cereal - ate all
10:50 - Bottle - 1 oz

I guess she figured out that a hunger strike didn't equate to being picked up from us - so she gave in!!!!

When we left, we hadn't been on the road for 1 minute and I turned around to find this....she hadn't napped all day!

Rather than enjoying my vacation day off today after Allie got home, I put her to sleep and got busy in the kitchen whipping up another batch of broccoli and sweet potatoes - she loves this little mix and is out! I made it a bit chunkier this go around as I'm trying to get her to eat thicker textures. I also steamed some zucchini, potatoes and sweet potatoes to get her to practice with finger foods. We'll be trying that tonight.

It's been such a crazy day - I thought I'd get today's blog out of the way , while I had some time on my hands. House is clean and organized, Allie's food is made, dinner is out and ready to cook and baby is catching up on her missed nap! Day 1 by ourselves went pretty darn good! I hope Allie gets into a better groove this week. We'll see!
