Day 209 - This is how Allie crawls...

Don't get excited - she is not crawling yet. This is one of the few things that Allie has not been very good at. I remember during Christmas last year, her cousin, Juliette crawling (albeit on her face, but mobile) and she was only around 5 months. I know I'm not suppose to compare babies, but the fact that Allie doesn't even show ANY interest in crawling is...we...funny to me!

They always say the first baby doesn't crawl until later while they learn to talk early. With the second baby, they crawl super early and don't talk until later - the whole thought process is that the second baby wants to keep up with the first baby, so they learn to become mobile and the first and second baby learn to communicate non-verbally so they don't need to learn to talk so soon. Since Allie really isn't around other babies - this holds true! She is already saying, "DADADADA!" and I in my heart of hearts believe that she knows what she is saying! I'll post a video soon of her saying dada!

So here is how our daily crawling practice time goes:

The mission: Get Allie to crawl to her toy

She thinks about how much she wants to get to that toy

The first reach to test the waters - how far exactly is the toy from her reach?

So the audience at home can see the true distance...

More contemplating...does she REALLY want to get to the toy?

The first sad face to try to get some sympathy...

The second sad face - the first one didn't work..

Since the two sad faces didn't work...she gets bored....and rolls the other way...

Continuing to roll the other way...

Hey look - a new toy that I can now reach! And I didn't have to crawl!

Yup - that's pretty much how any attempt to get her to crawl works....what can I say....

I can say that this is the first day that I have truly been sick in the past two years. I have taken for granted how awesome it has been not being sick with this super immune system that babies give their mothers! Unfortunately, it had to happen one day....I've had chills, sweats and a fever of 103. Brad came home to take me to the doctor as I was in no condition to even drive. I tested negative for strep throat, so we're assuming it's viral and letting it ride out. Blah...the worst part is seeing Allie sick! Although she doesn't have the fever or many of the other symptoms I have, she does have the stuffy / runny nose and it breaks my heart when I'm trying to nurse her and she can't breath...so she has to make a choice to eat or breath....pitiful.
