Day 163 - Milestones

This Friday, Allie will be six months old. Where in the world does the time go? Six months while you're pregnant, feels like an eternity. Six months after you give birth seem to whiz by in only a few moments.

According to the book, What to expect the first year by Eisenberg, Murkoff and Hathoway, by the end of the fifth month, your baby should be able to do the following:
  • Hold head steady when upright
  • On stomach, raise chest, supported by arms
  • Roll over one way
  • Pay attention to a raisin or other very small object
  • Squeal in delight
  • Reach for an object
  • Smile spontaneously
  • Grasp a rattle held to backs or tips of fingers
  • Bear some weight on legs
  • Keep head level with body when pulled to sitting position
  • Say ah-goo or similar vowel-consonant combinations
  • turn in the direction of a voice
I put a check mark next to each one of the above as I ready them...many of the things Allie was able to do way before the end of the fifth month....

We're still waiting on her to do some of the things that are on the list of "may possibly be able to" at the end of the fifth month...

Like razz, sit without support (she can sit for a few seconds...until she falls over!)...she's a little slow on getting to the sitting and standing...but trust me...I am NOT rushing it.

I want my baby to stay a baby for as long as I can get her to!!

Geez - six months have past....only six months left for the end of this first 365 days...
