Day 15 - The case of the missing belly button

Last night was amazingly successful - we started the Babywise schedule last night and I was skeptical. But it worked amazingly well. I had to get a few pointers from my friend, Holly, to help me keep Allie awake during feedings and afterward, and they worked amazingly. It is hard to keep Allie up after the feedings because all I want to do is cuddle with her while she is in her milk coma, but in order for her to establish good habits now, this is something I have to sacrifice. Plus - I already had two weeks of snuggly time! We're going to keep it going with the hopes of her sleeping through the night by 12 weeks - hopefully sooner!

Today, mom and I gave Allie a bath early this morning. Her little belly button stump was hanging on for dear life. I told mom we should cover it so that it wouldn't get wet and she told me that it was okay since it was barely hanging on. About that time, Allie reached down and pulled on it and started whalilng! Mom looked at me and immediately said, "Get a towel to cover it!" It stayed on for the bath and when we were changing her diaper later on during the day...the stump went missing...

We looked and looked and coudln't find it. It came off prematurely - I'm sure from Allie giving it a good tug. There's a bit a goo still left that we are continuing to treat with alcohol preps (thank goodness that we make those at work!!) So - I won't unveil the new belly button until it is properly healed...I can't go embarrassing Allie with a picture of a gooey belly button, can I?

But in the meantime, I will leave you with some cuteness!!!

Oh - and we eventually found the belly button stump!!! Allie had thrown up on her sheets and we had to wash them (for the 3rd straight day...the first two days were due to projectile poops...) and as we were pulling them out of the dryer and putting them back on her crib...there was her little washed and dried stump stuck to the sheets...almost as is if it were hanging on for dear life in order to be found again!!
