Day 3 - My big eyes and my first bath!!

Today was one of the first days that Allie opened her eyes for any extended period of time. My mom and I were amazed at how different she looks with her eyes wide open. She looks like a completely different baby!!!!

I know that all first time mothers...or maybe mothers, in general, stare at their babies for hours on end...and I never really understood it. But I guess it takes you actually having one of your own to understand it. It's like I have been initiated into a club - a special club of motherhood. And it is wonderful!

I thought that after she was born, I would be able to sleep since I wouldn't have the weight of my belly to keep me up and uncomfortable. Although my belly is now comfy...my worries have kicked in. The first night home, I didn't sleep a wink. Brad had to go to work the next day and my mom needed some rest, so that left me...alone...with Allie. I did well keeping her fed, dry and content (sleeping), but I couldn't help myself to check on her every 5 minutes. Did she just cry? Is she still breathing? Is she going to spit up and choke? I tried sleeping on the couch, like the good ole days, but I was still too far from her! I tried sleeping in the recliner, but couldn't immediately see her when she made a noise. I then tried sleeping in the floor, but couldn't get comfortable. So I just sat in her room and stared at her. I'm pitiful.

Allie also had her second bath today...I know that it says first in the title of the blog, but truth is...there weren't enough hands during the first bath to take pictures, since it was me and mom. Brad helped out with the second bath and that left me free to take some pictures! Allie, I'm sure like most new babies, does not like the water...or I guess being cold. She screamed her head off and we couldn't help but laugh at her fuss! I was opposed at actually putting her in water due to the umbilical stump, but my mom had a good method. Don't ever question your mother's techniques!!!

I also can't seem to stop taking pictures of her!!! This is going to be so much fun!!
