Today was the first day that I couldn't pick Allie up from daycare. I had a maternity session at 6:00 and a long day at the office before hand. I didn't get finished until 7:00 and by the time I was on the road, Brad called and told me he had dinner fixed, Allie fed and was about to give her a bath. She hasn't been napping very well during the day and today...she only had one nap at 11:00, so she was uber exhausted. I insisted that he go ahead and put her to bed, but when I walked in, I had a very happy baby waiting for me! I had limited snuggle time, but it was time and I was thankful for that!
After I got my snuggle time, Brad and I were talking about our daycare experience. I told him that I was shocked at how we were reversed in our reactions to daycare - he HATED taking her there, but I was okay with it (probably because he was the one that has to drop her off and I only had to pick her up!)
When I asked why he had such a hard time, he shared with me that on Monday, before we both left in the morning to leave her there for the first time - he watched one of the older walking kids bop Allie on top of the head...twice. He said the look on Allie's face (hunkered down and confused) was forever engrained into his head and it broke his heart to think about us not being there able to watch over her. I got a little upset about this because I didn't see it and would have immediately addressed it with the daycare...but men...they bottle it up - or at least mine does! I guess it's one thing that I'll end up just talking to the center about, but realize that I have to let it go because that's what happens as your children get older...
My girlfriend told me - "Wait until she gets a little older, when the kids learn to bite!"
Oh geez...
Lottery - I'm still waiting on you to hit for me - so that I can stay home and be with my baby girl all the time. Is there a support group for working moms that have to send their babies to strangers for care?!
This photo is a bit blurry, but it will have to do. Allie: post bath time pre bedtime. Note the stick like thing in her hand...we're getting her in the habit of "brushing" her teeth before bed....
