Today was Allie's 9 month well baby visit. It just so happened that it was also a 2 week check up for the ear infection ordeal. We are clear of the ear infection. I am still praying that tubes are not in our future, so we'll see if the infection comes back any time soon!
Allie didn't have a fever during the visit so all was good there. She is now up to 21 lbs and 30 inches long - 95th percentile! Her head is still above average on the size, BUT the doctor said - and this seriously came out of his mouth - that statistically, babies with larger heads tend to be smarter...he said it. He's a doctor. It didn't come from me...although I agree!
Since Allie was born, she has had a knot a few inches above her bellybutton. With my mom's continued persistence to ask about it EVERY visit, the doctor did say that it could be a hernia (okay - I though the term was ahernia - not a singular hernia!) He said there's no need to worry now, but that when she's a year old, he would refer us to a surgeon to have it operated on. Um - how am I not supposed to worry? You just mentioned the term surgery and my baby in the same train of thought...
But right now, I have too many other things to worry about, so we'll tuck this worry in the back of my mind - at least for a little while.
Today was also the first day that I had to drop Allie OFF at daycare. I mentally prepared myself for the fact that she may cry and that everything would be okay if she did. When we arrived, I sat her in the floor with all the toys. She crawled over to the pool of balls and all the glorious toys and that was the end of mommy time! The little booger didn't even realize I had left! :-(
At 3:30, I got an email from Brad that said the daycare had called, Allie was running a fever (again...) and that he was picking her up. When I got home, I was greeted with, "You just missed it!" My response, (using Brad's term), "What? Did she ralph all over the place?" Uh-huh. As Brad was feeding her dinner, it came right back up instantaneously. Luckily for me, I got home after he had cleaned it and Allie up, so all I had to deal with was a smiley baby! I love smiley babies...don't you?
We decided to go ahead and give her a bath, then put her to bed...and she went out like a light! I'm thinking with the teething and then the vaccination today, it was just too much and the fever got the best of her tonight...she was pooped!
Brad has been fantastic - he made me dinner and is currently washing dishes and getting Allie's stuff ready for tomorrow while I blog! Yay, Team Gideon! To my defense, I did clean a bit today while I waited on the tree repair guys...but just a little! Our house looks like a tornado went through it!
So - here's today's photo of Allie! Please note the facial expression on her that says, "Mom, I'm sick - give me my bottle and let me go to sleep." I love it!
