It's amazing to me how babies and kids, just one day, start doing things...I guess this is how we all evolve and learn, but watching a baby - Allie - progress from trying to crawl to just one day - crawling is amazing to me!
We've been trying to teach Allie how to drink out of her sippy cup now for several months...seriously - that long. We seem to try things out early with Allie in hopes that she'll catch on early...but as babies will - they catch on when they're good and ready! She has been using her sippy cup as a chew toy - she loves to hear the plastic noise when it rubs agains her gums. Yesterday - she randomly decided she was going to drink out of it! No more chewing it - she is a bona fide drinker of the sippy cup!!
Today has been a crazy busy day although I don't think I've done much. I think this past week is starting to catch up with me and after running around the past few days getting the house ready for the week - I feel like I've been running around busy...but don't have anything to show for it!
This morning was pretty eventful - The past 3 or 4 days, Allie has been randomly throwing up her morning milk bottle. She'll have a few days where there will be no throw up, but for the most part - the milk quietly comes back up and all over the place. Today, I thought she was going to hold it down - as we were in the living room playing, she started coughing and as a joke, I cupped my hands and put it under her chin and said, "If you're going to spew, spew into this..." (Wayne's World line for those of you that didn't pick up on it)....and sure enough, she spewed right into my hands! I quickly ran to the kitchen leaving a trail of baby vomit behind me...
This is the only meal that she decides to throw up for some reason...and like I said - it's not every morning...
Lunch and dinner are pretty safe - we had quite the smorgasbord today. Allie tried cottage cheese out for the first time today and LOVED IT! I was a little worried, but she would get impatient with me when I would give her time to give me a yuck face...she didn't have time! She wanted more...in her mouth...immediately! I also mixed some of it up with a pear / nectarine puree that I had made....yummy! Dinner time brought back the tofu and chicken meat sticks (I'm still on the fence with these little Gerber Graduate meat sticks...but she' seems to love them....I don't trust them...they smell funny!) and then a little steamed squash and zucchini. I don't know how much it takes of these finger foods to fill her up...so I followed it up with one ice cube serving of broccoli and cauliflower. (Yup - I know what you're thinking...no wonder she pukes in the morning - look at all the random foods you're giving her at dinner!) That may be the case...I didn't realize it until I typed the words...maybe we'll cut back on the variety of foods! (I didn't tell you that I also gave her watermelon and diced apples for a snack...) - Yes the girl can put some food down!

She has also learned that she can lure Kitty over with some food! Allie loves Kitty...but Kitty hates Allie! They are friends just long enough for Kitty to get some food..and then Kitty is OUTTA THERE!

But the greatest feat over the past few days has been this face that she makes when she doesn't get her way...immediately. Not quite sure where she picked it up , but it's this squinty face that looks like a cry....but it's just a face that lasts for a few seconds....and then she looks to see if you're buying it - and it's accompanied with an "AAAYYYYEEEEEE!!!!" This face drives her daddy insane - he hates it! I have a feeling this will be the first of many things that will drive her daddy nuts!
