Day 37 - Just the 3 of us...

Where to start, where to start?

This has been Day 2 where Allie's schedule has been on point! Everything has fallen into place and she has become the best baby in the world! She doesn't really even cry anymore when going to sleep! The wake time is imperative, but she dozes off quite easily! I'm afraid I'll jinx myself, but I can't help but brag! We'll find out tonight / tomorrow if we get a consistent outcome - if we can do 3 days in a row...that can't be a coincident!

Today was pretty eventful - I managed somehow to convince Brad we could take Allie grocery shopping! I didn't think he would buy it, but he did. We packaged Allie up with her diaper bag and headed out. She did amazingly well for the first half of the outing - the second half - she got fussy, only to find out she pooped. Brad took care of her as I checked out and we went back home.

It's been really great so far - I now feel like a real mom - doing this all on my own. I now have that true feeling of loving Allie like I've never loved anyone before. Not that I didn't have it before, it is just more predominant now. It's that feeling that I now have the complete responsibility of her and she doesn't have anyone else to rely on except me - and Brad too, but you know what I mean. Don't get me wrong - I can't wait for my mom to come back, but the past few days has given me the confidence to know that I can do it myself!

Today was the first time I actually pulled out one of Allie's books and read to her! During her wake time, I thought we could do something different than play on her gym and boppy lounger, so I pulled out one of the Cat in the Hat books in her room and read it to her. She listened so well! The colors and pictures were so bright that she was able to look at the book - but she mostly looked at me while I read to her. She eventually dozed off - but it was totally awesome! I love being a mom!!!

We also did a webcam chat with Bana tonight! Allie had just taken a bath and was in a really good mood, so she was pretty mellow the whole chat! It was nice to be able to talk to Bana face to face (sort of) and see KK since we haven't seen her since we were last in Austin for the ACL festival.

All in all - I think it was a pretty successful first full day without any help - it was just the 3 of us and we can make it! Let's see how tomorrow is when Brad goes to work and I'm left here alone!!

  1. I loved the webcam. It makes me feel not so far away.

Sounds like you're doing great with Allie on your own. I knew you would. You and Brad are great parents.

Love you and look forward to booking my next visit. Love Mom
