Day 42 - It took 6 weeks to have a BLOWOUT!!!

This morning I woke up to a huge surprise...literally - I walked into Allie's room for her 7:00 am feeding and she had blown her diaper! Her poor jammies were wet and the bed was soaked...good thing Michelle had given us those waterproof blankets...good thing my mom thought to put them on the bed...I just changed Allie and replaced the blanket. All done! I knew that it was going to happen - it was just a matter of time - I just didn't realize it would be so soon!

So - the past 5 weeks I have celebrated motherhood in various ways - pedicure, massage, dinner, etc - but today, I celebrate the 6 weeks of having my precious baby girl by doing nothing but spending the whole day dedicated to only her. I got up this morning and got all the housework done a little after Brad left for work and just really wanted to take in the day with Allie. Earlier this week was such a crazy time - me getting the jist of how Allie worked, how to cope with little sleep and working out my schedule in addition to Allie's. Friday is here and all of that has been worked out - so I figure this is the time to just take it all in. In 3 weeks, I'll have to return to work, so there won't be much time left of just mother and daughter. Bana will be coming back for a visit on December 2, Rhonda will be visiting on December 10 and my mom will come back on December 12.

I am really looking forward to this weekend - Just the 3 of us again - but this time, we'll have our bearings on a little straighter and will truly get to enjoy it and each other!

I got a few pleasant surprises today - Bana's family sent us baby gifts and we were so happy to get them - a gorgeous quilt and baby outfits. Then, unexpectedly, a knock on the door. The florist... Who could have sent me flowers? I pull open the note and Brad had sent me the flowers with awesome words of gratitude and encouragement in only the way Brad can. I love the flowers and appreciate him so much!

I got a really great laugh today - I was cleaning the kitchen early this morning and had Allie in her Boppy lounger on the breakfast table. Lando was standing next to her waiting for some food and Allie had the biggest and loudest poop and our 150 lb great dane jumped and I thought he was going to go run and hide! Once he figured out the noise came from Allie, he turned his head as if to say, "How could that have come out of her?" It was too funny!!!

So with all my gushy hormonal sentiment - I am wishing my baby girl a Happy 6 week birthday! Here's a few pictures that she'll absolutely hate when she gets older...her face when she's trying really hard to poop!!! I couldn't resist.

This is not a crying face...it is the face I get when I try to give the girl some water - she absolutely HATES it!!

And this may look like a crying face too, but she fools us yet again! This is a poopy face...she is having some difficulties and is really giving it all she's got!!
