Day 40 - Smile Session

Today was such a great day!! Allie slept 5 straight hours last night...the sleep times at night are getting longer and longer! Hopefully before you know it - we'll both be sleeping through the night!! Yea!!! She also stayed down for all of her naps today, which was so nice because I got to nap too!! NEVER take naps for granted!!

Today, I got, without a shadow of a doubt...real smiles!!! She so loves her mobile that she starting smiling at it today - yes, the mobile - not at me!! She has three stuffed animals on her mobile that she watches and talks to on occasion - Bobo the hippo, Fefe the flamingo and Ribbit...the frog. Okay - so I might have named them, but she still likes them!!!

Here's a video too later on that evening. There are only a few smiles in the video, but no one was around and she was too cute! She was pretty much done by the time I whipped out the camera...

We also had some drama a few days ago when we tried to clip her nails for the first time! My mom has been clipping them and with her gone...Allie had grown some pretty dangerous nails in just a few days. She had already begun to leave scratches on her face. Determined to prove that we could do it - Brad whipped out the clippers and clipped all of her nails on one hand! I was pretty darned impressed! When he got to the next hand - the first clip - a sharp cry came out from Allie - a cry I had never heard before...he got her - he clipped the end of her finger and she was so not happy. A small drop of blood started to form and that was it - I almost lost it too! Brad felt really bad, but he knew that it wasn't his fault. Well - determined to get those nails clipped, I waited until she was asleep and I clipped the rest of them with no incident. And by the rest of them...I mean only 2 and 1/2 nails. The others didn't need clipping! The 1/2 nail...I clipped it and it just hung to her nail bed...so I nibbled it off!

Allie's stomach issues seem to be subsiding...she has been burping more and farting more than ever! It is so funny to watch her grunt while she tries to poop...sometimes I have to cheer her on and grunt with her!

Tonight, my friend Mark dropped by to visit since he was in town. I used to work with Mark in Mass and he and I have just kept in touch. It was nice to catch up with him and for him to see Allie - after all, I haven't seen him in a few years!!!
