Day 315 - Allie

I don't have any clever title or one liner for today's post. It's just the only thing on the forefront of my mind.

Allie

For a couple of reasons.

When I got home today, Allie was not quite herself. She was laying on the floor with her head down, just still. My mom said she started running a fever a few hours before I got home and had just been acting different. I picked her up and cuddled with her for a few hours and she just hung out with her head on my shoulder. Something was definitely wrong. My Allie is a squiggly, squirmy baby - she doesn't just sit still....for a few hours, we snuggled, while I worried. Was her belly hurting, did she have a headache, why wasn't she fussing, give me SOMETHING here, kid. We administered a dose of baby Advil and that seemed to do the trick because shortly after, she slowly began to babble, then pick her head up, then squirm, then play....then got hungry. Ugh...ear infections and fevers, they have become my arch nemesis lately.

I was poking through my phone today and came across some of my favorite photos that I've shared before, but they are truly some of my favorite.

This was the first time I felt our mother daughter bond - I didn't have this until I held her for the first time in the NICU. She was rushed off to the NICU immediately after she was born and I didn't get to touch her until later in the middle of the night when it was just me. I have never loved and hurt so much at the same time.
The first and only night Allie stayed in the hospital room with us. She was fussing and we didn't have a CLUE! Brad was so proud that he was able to rock her sleep!
While I was at home with Allie during my leave. We used to sit and talk for hours during our nursing sessions. I loved catching these random faces!
Still while I was on maternity leave - napping with Allie on the couch - I LOVE those chubby, chubby cheeks that are now - not quite so big!
Sweet Allie face!
Very first time in a high chair at a restaurant - such a big girl!

She has changed so much since these pictures. Now she's truly a big girl. Crawling all over the place and exploring new things. We have all these toys and she chooses to play with the lens cover for my camera!!

I love these next two pictures - they may look the same to you, but they look so different to me. The slightest difference in her eyes make the biggest difference to me!

Playing with Daddy and showing him the lens cover that she shouldn't really be playing with! Check out that big pooch belly she's rockin'!
And last but not least today - I had to snap a few pictures of the quilt my mom is making. I believe that she started this quilt when my baby brother was teeny...and she never finished it. So, she's finishing it for Allie - by hand! My mom has the most amazing talents - things I would have never have thought she could do - quilting, sewing, knitting, crocheting - among the gardening and cooking....
